Getting people to visit your website is the first task facing any internet marketer.  Once you have them there you need to then convert them into sales.  Easier said than done of course.  Writing convincing copy for sales and landing pages is something of an art form and can take years to master.  However all good sales pages have a few elements in common and here are a couple of things to be aware of:

The Headline

The headline should be able to grab people’s attention and hold it.  It should immediately convey a benefit of whatever you are trying to sell and encourage people to keep on reading.  While arguments can be made for both long and short headlines, I generally prefer shorter ones that use 15 words or less.

Calls to Action

Calls to action whether it’s to buy the product or just leave a name and email address should be liberally spaced throughout the sales page.  A good sales page can be thousands of words long and if the only call to action is tucked away at the bottom of it you are going to be losing out on potential customers or leads.  Some people may be convinced to take action after a couple of paragraphs while others will read the whole thing.  Whatever they do make sure it is easy for them to take the action you want.

Build Trust

Trust is an essential part of selling just about anything online.  Your potential customers can’t see you or talk to you directly so you have to build trust and confidence in other ways.  Make sure to include any testimonials about your product or service from satisfied customers as well as any other material that backs up the claims you are making.

Add a P.S

The title and the P.S at the end of the sales page are the parts of it that are almost guaranteed to be read.  While many readers will skim or skip through the actual sales copy they will definitely read the title and P.S so it needs to be strong.  Make sure it has a reason in it to read the sales or landing pages in full.
